Addition to unsportsmanlike fouls

Previously an unsportsmanlike foul could only occur if the team on a fast break possesses the ball.

Now an illegal unsportsmanlike foul can occur even if team doesn’t necessarily have possession.

If one team is on a fastbreak and/or has a clear path to the basket, any impediment by the opposing team should be considered an unsportsmanlike foul.

Here, the player on defence is in the best position to gain possession of the ball and, if, successful would have a clear path to the basket on a fast break. While the ball is still without a clear possessor, a foul by the other team hinders the opportunity and is now considered unsportsmanlike.
