This online course will provide future and current coaches who want to enhance their craft with the knowledge, skills, and drills necessary to coach basketball up to a national level, including social, youth, adult and national leagues.
This course consists of 6 online lessons and 1 practical component in which candidates will connect with a verifier to carry out their practical hours to receive their certification for this course. This must be completed within 5 months of enrolment. The practical component is explained at the bottom of this page.
The information in this course was gathered from respected worldwide sources including FIBA, USA Basketball, Canada Basketball, Basketball England and London Basketball Association (LBA). Paired with information from current coaches, this course entails the most relevant information and practices. We have arranged great benefits through our partner LBA as candidates will be able to make use of this course.
*This course was designed in the UK, for the UK market. However, it is still relevant to nations across the world. Please do consider this while working through this course, as certain components may not be relevant to you.
*Becoming Level 2 certified may still not qualify you for national level coaching due to Basketball England’s rules and guidelines. Please reach out to us for further clarification.

Lesson 2
By the end of this lesson, participants will have learned how to create a fun and inclusive environment, how to build connections with your athletes, how to analyse data, take feedback, and much more.
Lesson 3 & 4
By the end of each of these lessons, coaches will have a strong understanding of what necessary equipment, drills and planning goes into a successful practice/training session.
Lesson 5
By the end of this lesson, coaches will understand all the essential basketball fundamentals (shooting, passing, defence, etc.). They will be properly equipped on how to. devise a developmental program for each one of their players.
Lesson 6
This final lesson encompasses necessary information about development of players on and off the court, as well as the different ways you can be a positive influence in your players’ lives.
*Please note: There are many different styles, philosophies, and ways to progress the game. There is not a one-size-fits-all answer as the game continuously evolves. With that’s said, all answers for this course and its quizzes should be drawn from the course to ensure a passing grade for the quizzes and the online course.

Once the full contents of the online course are completed, candidates must now connect with a verifier to complete their practical final. The practical will be a physical, in-person workshop assessing the knowledge of the candidates to ensure all content in the course was understood. The practical component will be done with a verifier who will assess and grade each candidate on their performance and knowledge of the online course content. Please note there is a subtle difference depending on if you signed up to this course as an individual or as part of a group.
As an individual – You may start your practical at any point once you enrol on the course. To complete your practical you must complete a minimum of 16 hours with your verifier at the discussed location & schedule. A marking scheme and logbook will be provided to properly track the progress of each session.
As part of a group – You will complete your practical according to the location and schedule confirmed with your group manager. To complete your practical you must complete a minimum of 10 hours with your verifier at the discussed location and agreed upon schedule. A marking scheme and logbook will be provided to properly assess each candidate.

The goal is for the course candidate to be fully prepared after this course as well as to have a better understanding of each lesson and topic within this course.
